Eat, Drink, & Get Married
Howdy! Welcome back to the blog. We just spent a raucous weekend with some of Kelly’s co worker friends during a wedding weekend extravaganza near the Targhee and Teton mountain ranges. There were many laughs, some beautiful hikes, a river float, lots of beer, wine, tequila, emergen-c, delicious foods and LOTS and lots of dancing. And at the end of it, Kelly’s friend Megan said “I Do” at the wildest ranch party Idaho has maybe ever seen. I mean, the bride ended up bartending her own wedding by 2am while the last remaining guests roasted s’mores and toasted (get it?) the newlyweds one last time around a bonfire. There was a valiant effort made by every wedding guest to finish 38 bottles of tequila and 25 crates of wine. We thought we were successful, and then the ranch owner informed Megan that they hid the rest of the alcohol bottles because it was becoming clear this party would never end if there was still plentiful supply behind the bar.

In addition to the wedding festivities, our crew went rafting (floating) for a few hours down The Snake River with a young, long haired, adventure therapy guide named Jandy. We floated through the Tetons, identifying birds, marveling at the gorgeous mountains, and culminated the trip with a cold but refreshing Snake River swim. We saw several bald eagles, an osprey, many hooded merganzer, cedar waxwing, cliff swallows, a heron, and a few beaver dams. We learned that, sadly, beavers are corpuscular and there is a slim to none chance of seeing them during the day. Alex and Kelly have been on a mission to marvel at beavers ever since watching a very captivating and informative documentary “Leave it to Beavers” on Netflix in 2016. Another time!

We hiked in Grand Targhee, a ski resort outside of Victor. Our group took the chair lift up and hiked a short 1/2 mile to the summit, then hiked down the mountain another 3.5 miles. The weather was perfect and our crew was merry despite some of us struggling with altitude sickness- turns out those oxygen canisters really work! After the hellscape that was the field of medicine in 2021 and 2022, it was glorious to unwind, laugh, relax, and party with Kelly’s fellow ICU co workers celebrating the happy couple in the stunning Tetons.

Beautiful pictures! Fun activities, beautiful wedding. No wonder you don’t want to come back home
We’ll be home soon… After we go to a few more beautiful places 🙂
These pics are beautiful and you make it sound like the PERFECT weekend of celebration!
